  2. Glycolic Acid Actives. Smallest AHA, deepest penetration.
  3. Sodium Hydroxide pH adjusters and chelators. Base for neutralising acids and carbomers.
  4. Butylene Glycol Humectants. Solvent and humectant, improves spread of actives.
  5. Glycerin Humectants. The reference humectant. Cheap, proven, works at 3 to 10 percent.
  6. Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Humectants. Mild humectant with soothing polysaccharides.
  7. Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water Actives. Hamamelis extract, astringent tannins, often in alcohol.
  8. Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Seed Extract Other ingredients. Skin conditioning
  9. Hexylene Glycol Surfactants. Emulsifying, perfuming, skin conditioning, solvent, surfactant
  10. Fructose Humectants. Humectant
