  4. Glycerin Humectants. The reference humectant. Cheap, proven, works at 3 to 10 percent.
  5. Salicylic Acid Actives. BHA, oil-soluble, clears inside the pore.
  6. Bentonite Emulsifiers. Absorbent, bulking, emulsion stabilising, viscosity controlling
  7. Cetearyl alcoholPore-clogging 2/5 Emollients. Fatty alcohol thickener and co-emulsifier.
  8. Caprylic/Capric TriglycerideMalassezia borderline Emollients. Fractionated coconut triglyceride.
  9. PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil Surfactants. Emulsifying, surfactant
  10. Phenoxyethanol Preservatives. The standard broad-spectrum preservative at up to 1 percent.
  11. Squalane Emollients. Hydrogenated squalene, skin-identical lipid.
  12. Betaine Humectants. Sugar-beet osmolyte, reduces sting from other ingredients.

  25. Octenidine HCI Preservatives. Cationic antiseptic used by a few Indian labs.
  26. Sodium Hydroxide pH adjusters and chelators. Base for neutralising acids and carbomers.
  27. Sodium Benzoate Preservatives. Food-grade preservative, works below pH 5.5.
  28. Disodium EDTA pH adjusters and chelators. Chelator that protects preservatives.
