UV-Defence Sunscreen Gel - 50 ml

  1. Aqua Water, the base most formulas are built on. It dissolves the other ingredients
  2. Octocrylene Old-generation UV filters. UVB filter and avobenzone stabiliser.
  3. Ethylhexyl Salicylate Old-generation UV filters. Ethylhexyl salicylate, weak UVB solvent-filter.
  4. Ethylhexyl Triazone Modern UV filters. Strongest UVB absorber per gram. Max 5 percent.
  5. Dicaprylyl Carbonate Emollients. Emollient, skin conditioning
  6. Glycerin Humectants. The reference humectant. Cheap, proven, works at 3 to 10 percent.
  7. Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine Modern UV filters. Oil-soluble broad spectrum UVA and UVB. Max 10 percent.
  8. Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate Thickeners and film formers. Absorbent, anticaking, viscosity controlling
  9. Homosalate Old-generation UV filters. Weak UVB filter needing 10 percent.
  10. Phenoxyethanol Preservatives. The standard broad-spectrum preservative at up to 1 percent.
  11. Sodium Hydroxide pH adjusters and chelators. Base for neutralising acids and carbomers.
  12. Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer Thickeners and film formers. Gel former that holds oils in suspension.
  13. Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol Modern UV filters. Particulate broad spectrum filter in water dispersion.

  16. Propylene Glycol Humectants. Glycol solvent and humectant, the older sibling of propanediol.

  18. Cetyl AlcoholPore-clogging 2/5 Emollients. Fatty alcohol thickener.
  19. Glyceryl StearateFeeds Malassezia Emulsifiers. Workhorse non-ionic emulsifier.
  20. PEG-100 StearateFeeds Malassezia Emulsifiers. Partner to glyceryl stearate.
  21. Niacinamide Actives. Vitamin B3. Sebum, barrier, pigment transfer, at 2 to 5 percent.
  22. Ceramide NP Actives. Barrier lipids. Work in a 3:1:1 ratio with cholesterol and fatty acids.
